Shadows danced across the ground in ever-changing patters, the pale glow of the moon casting then across the wide expanse of rather open land. It was here, in the meadow, that Shadow was found, reinforced claws scratching across the ground and digging grooves into the damp surface. Her eyes glowed in the dark moonlight, erie silver against a peacefully black background. Her silver collar glinted with the teeth that it was studded with, gleaming in some places and chipping in others. The she-cat opened her mouth, tasting the air and dragging her dry tongue across the roof of her mouth. Rabbit, she thought, grin curling her muzzle upwards. She dropped into a crouch, making sure to stay down wind of the fluffy animal hopping around. She crept closer and closer to the animal, hopefully about to have it grasped between her claws.

Night silently watched her deputy stalk the rabbit, her one eye slowly studying the predator and prey. Her fur shimmered in the moonlight, but thanfully she was pressed down into the grBrass so that she may not be seen.
Her ears twitched. She could see her breath in the air.
Tail-tip twitching, she watched.

Shadow narrowed her eyes, and just when she was close enough, she lunged, hooking the rabbit by her claws. In a few seconds, her head dipped quickly by it's neck, and bit down, just enough to kill it, but not let much of it's blood flow out. She crouched by the rabbit, gently taking it in her jaw, and turned, pelt twisting with the movement. She frowned slightly, and dropped the rabbit to the floor, tasting the air. "Night, would that happen to be you, or am I just mental?" she snorted, trying to pinpoint the slight scent that she smelt.

Night skulked from the grBrass she was hiding in and into the open.
"It's me," she said in her ice-like voice. "I thought that paticular patch was strong enough to hide my scent. You're more talented than I thought."
Night sat and scratched the napeof her neck. "If you're wondering why I'm here, I got a little curious, since you came out this far."

Shadow nodded, speaking in a rough voice,"I like comming out here, it tends to be more bountiful with prey than in the city." She wasn't very curious as to why Night was there, as Night ruled over her, and was therefore able to do whatever she wanted in Shadow's eyes, but she merely shrugged to herself, and looked at her leader. "I was just about to return and drop off the prey I caught," she spoke, flicking her tail over to the two mice that were in a pile just a few pawsteps away. "You wouldn't mind helping me, would you? My jaw is kind of filled," she sheepishly replied, picking up the rabbit between her teeth carefully.

Without hesitation, Night picked up the mice by their tails. It had been a while since they had had fresh-kill for food. She began to pad off in the direction of the city, pelt shimmering.
"So," she meowed through the mice in her jaws, "how's life?"

Shadow followed after Night, whiskers twitching slightly. "As well as it could go," she replied, struggling to sound out the words through the fluffy white fur of the rabbit. "How's yours?" she inquired, glancing over at the she-cat with bright silver eyes.

Night's whiskers twitched. "Could be better," Night muttered. "But I won't complain." She thought back a bit to how her life has been going; prey shortages, recent exiles, and nightly visions of Scourge. Her ears folded back on her head. ((Should they run into an outsider? ))

(( They should.)) Shadow nodded, listening to her leader quietly. It was true, the cats had to travel farther out into their territory for prey, but atleast they found enough to survive. The two cats were nearing the city, and Shadow could see the skyline just in the distance, not too far off. She grinned around the rabbit. "It'll get better, and we'll get stronger," she encouraged, tail swaying across the ground.

Night nodded. But before she could finish, her eye widened and her ears and nose twitched.
"Do you... Smell something?" Night asked cautiously. She unsheathed her reinforced claws, and she kept her tail low.

Shadow opened her mouth, and her tase buds were immediately met with the scent of an intruder. She nodded at Night's question, instantly freezing and dropping low. Her tail paused from it's swaying, and her pupils were mere slits, silver eyes narrowed. "I do, and I don't like how it's prancing through our territory," she hissed lowly, claws sliding out and scratching on the ground. The scent was confident, too confident for Shadow's liking, and she snarled quietly.

Night let the intruder's scent wash over her tastebuds. Eye narrowing, she slowly crawled towards the scent. Her ears were pressed to her head, her white paws noislessly making each step.
Her mouth curled into a snarl when she saw the silhouette of a cat a few tail-lengths in front of her.

Shadow silently crawled after her leader, watching the outline of a cat slowly make it's was across the Meadow, a rabbit gripped in it's jaw. Her eyes widened for a second, thinking about the hungry mouths back at the city who have went week without fresh kill. She hissed, baring her fangs silently and gripping the round with her claws. "That rabbit could feed half a dozen mouthes at camp," she hissed, "And he's taking it all for himself, from our land, no less!"

Night dug up some earth with her claws. "Shadow," the black cat hissed. "I'll go in there first, you snag the rabbit, hide it, and come back to help me. Understood?"

Shadow nodded, body ready to sprint out at Night's word. She was honestly wondering if the cat was daft, for the scent-markers around the meadow were fairly strong, and hard to miss. Nevertheless, she tensed her body, tail curling up at the tip and narrowing her eyes to slits so she wouldn't be seen.
